Task 2: Composition Design
This assignment requires you to create a world or environment for one of the characters. This task aims to teach and apply composition principles, allowing you to construct a dynamic and balanced scene that reflects the character's emotions, story, and personality. The world you design can be based on the character design you created in Task 1, or it can be a completely new scene that aligns with a different narrative direction.

I chose to use this composition style to create the background of my environment.
Since my design is for animals, I have decided to make the background theme natural.
My line drawing was created using Illustrator.

I created the initial background as I had envisioned, and sketched out the outlines.
Final environmental design
I inserted the character I chose into the picture.
Finally, it was made into a card format.
On a quiet and warm grass field, there is a small paradise for a puppy.
The sky is always clear, with white clouds slowly moving across it, and the air smells fresh and green.
On one side of the field, there is a red doghouse.
It is where the puppy rests and dreams every day.
Next to it is a bowl of food, showing a life full of care and safety.
A bone and a tennis ball lie on the grass.
They are the puppy’s favorite toys.
Every day, it runs and plays on the field, waiting for its owner to come home.
This place is more than just a yard.
It stands for friendship, happiness, and simple, pure joy.
Ratiionale
The rationale of this work is to explore the relationship between emotional expression and visual structure through a clear and familiar scene. I chose a puppy and its living environment as the subject because this image is easy to understand and emotionally engaging, allowing viewers to quickly connect with the scene without complex storytelling.
In terms of composition, the main character is placed at the visual center, with everyday objects such as food, toys, and shelter arranged around it. This structure is based on real-life experience and reflects a common understanding of safety, companionship, and daily order. As a result, the image presents a complete and stable environment rather than a collection of unrelated elements.
Another important part of the rationale is the focus on simplified expression. I intentionally avoided excessive details and complex backgrounds to keep the message clear. This decision helps the viewer focus on the emotional tone of the work, which aims to communicate a sense of warmth, calmness, and comfort in a direct way.
Reflection
n this project, I created a cartoon-style picture using Adobe AI. At first glance, the image looks simple, with a puppy and its surroundings, but during the process, I realized that creating it was more challenging than I expected.
At the beginning, I did not have a very clear plan for the whole picture. I only knew that I wanted to make a cute and relaxing scene. As I kept adjusting the image, I started to understand that every element in the picture matters. The position and size of the puppy help show the main subject, while the bone, ball, doghouse, and food bowl make the scene more complete and meaningful.
During the creation process, I changed my design many times. Sometimes I thought the picture was finished, but after looking at it again, I noticed some parts did not feel right. This experience taught me that creation is not something you finish in one step. It needs patience, observation, and continuous improvement.
The biggest lesson I learned from this project is that creating art is about expression, not only about making something look good. Through this work, I wanted to show a warm and cheerful feeling and share a sense of simple happiness. Although the picture is not perfect, it truly reflects my thoughts and progress during the creative process.
